Online breaches of data integrity are becoming more and more sophisticated and threatening. June 21 recognises the value of its clients electronic presence and takes concrete steps to protect data integrity and preserve the value of a client's online presence.
A breach of integrity can cause:
- Theft of data
- Theft of personal and client information

- Breaches of integrity of linked systems
- Use of electronic resources (such as hard drive space or bandwidth) for illegal and illicit purposes
Aspects of hosting and security include:
- Trusted servers
Server farms from which June 21 acquires server space regularly patch and upgrade their servers to address vulnerabilities. - Trusted, secure operating system
June 21 installs a trusted, secure operating system on which it installs its own security software. - Operating system upgrades
The operating system is upgraded when a stable release is made available, typically every two years. Stable releases are releases that are non-experimental, accepted as the 'official release' of an operating system which provides strong support for software components used by June 21. - Component patching
Vulnerabilities become apparent in software components on a regular basis, and June 21 immediately applies patches that are released to address vulnerabilities. - Automated security suite
An automated security suite routinely prevents malicious intrusion 24/7. - Human expertise
When the automated security suite detects a problem that it can't manage, it will alert June 21's security expert for human intervention. - Site back-ups
June 21 backs up sites and their operating systems on a regular basis. In addition June 21 also backs up the site data. - Storage of site back ups
Site back ups are stored in two different places to prevent loss of data if one server is breached.

APRIL 2016 NEWS
Developments
We are investigating ways to cost-effectively implement SSL (secure socket layer) certificates. We expect Google to up-rank search positions for sites with SSL certificates. We are also investigating PHP 7. PHP is a programming language for servers and sites. Subject to investigation, we expect implementation to speed up websites and reduce processing requirements for servers. This should contain cost escalation on processing requirements for servers controlled by June 21.
Security
In March, we experienced a sizable increase in layer 2 attacks. This is due to spam and hacking bots searching for newly discovered Wordpress vulnerabilities. All attempts were blocked. Wordpress is a popular content management system (CMS) with known security vulnerabilities. June 21 does not use Wordpress.

Hosting and exchange rates
Due to currency volatility, June 21 is investigating SA hosting to reduce its exposure to the weakening rand.

SMS gateway
June 21 has developed an SMS gateway on request of a client, and will make this available to all clients. SMS can be used to send announcements and offers, and can be used to redirect users to site content.

Mobile browsing
Due to changing web usage patterns, all future site commissions will now include a site for smartphones. Desktop sites will be compatible with standard tablets.

You can use electronic communication to make offers and announcements from your website to your most interested repeat customers, as well as stakeholders.
June 21 offers a standard monthly communication package for baseline sites which comprises of:
- 2 X short news or other updates on your site with one photo each (provided by you)
- 1 x short 1 column newsletter and sending (content from site updates)
- 1 x SMS writing
- Up to 1,000 SMS sent (once per month)
- 1 - 2 photo changes
- 1 update of your list of customer email addresses and mobile numbers
Please contact us separately for update quotations for retail sites.
All you have to do is provide a list of customers*, their e-mail addresses and mobile numbers, as well as the content for your update.
Individual updates or more comprehensive scheduled communication can be costed individually.
If you have more complex requirements for communication, June 21 can quote separately for those as well.
Contact us here for a basic communication package or more complex online communication requirements.* You will need to state that all recipients on your list of customers or stakeholders agree to receive your mail and SMS. An unsubscribe button is standard with all mail newsletters, and if used will also delete the recipient’s SMS number. This is in line with global marketing practice and legislation affecting servers.
